Any agreement to let resulting from this contact is a private arrangement between the landlord and tenant. Students seeking further information on letting property are advised to contact the Students' Association for a copy of the current How to Rent book. Students who wish advice on a lease or particular matters relating to a property they rent should contact Student Support Services - 01334 462720 in the first instance. The Students' Association has a dedicated member of staff for student leasing queries and advice Eleanor Feltham, Accommodation Advocate, can be contacted via ef41@st-andrews.ac.uk.
Landlords and prospective tenants are advised to ensure that the property complies with the appropriate legislation e.g. HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) Licence if more than 2 people in the property; Electrical wiring check, Gas Safety Certificate, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and that upholstered furniture complies with Fire and Safety Regulations (1988).
