About Us

Welcome to the School of Business, Enterprise and Management at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.

The impact of businesses large and small can be seen and felt in every aspect of our lives. For any organisation to succeed in today's increasingly competitive market place requires enterprising graduates with an excellent business and management education.

In our Business School we provide students with the unique opportunity to study in a highly focused and friendly institution where staff provide excellent levels of student support: we constantly receive excellent feedback from our graduates and from employers about the relevance of our programmes. Indeed, we were named Britain’s top higher education college in The Sunday Times University Guide two years running in 2005 and 2006.

At the School of Business, Enterprise and Management we aim to lead the way in student-centred approaches to learning; where students can demonstrate their entrepreneurial talent and learn by doing as well as being taught; where state-of-the-art information and communications technology and educational resources are put at the centre of the student learning experience - in work placements as well as on campus; and where the growing number of collaborative international partnerships we currently have in India, Switzerland and Singapore provide a critical international dimension to our work.

Our staff also work with managers and executives from business, government and public services to support innovation and professional advancement. The transfer of our experiences from the real world of organisations to the student learning environment is crucial to the development of effective learning and teaching materials. We provide excellence and leadership in vocationally and professionally relevant education, research and consultancy in key sectors of the Scottish economy – so making our graduates some of the most sought-after in the country - and beyond!

A responsive, dynamic and modern School, we deliver top quality programmes that are continuously updated to make them relevant to the rapidly changing global business environment concerned about sustainability. We offer a complete range of business and management education programmes from undergraduate to postgraduate and post-experience programmes, including MBAs, Executive Masters degrees as well as PhDs.

Flexible entry and exit points also make our programmes particularly attractive to graduates with HNC or HND qualifications from Further Education colleges. Our graduates are highly employable with 96% of our students gaining employment or progress to postgraduate study within six months of graduation.

The School is also building a thriving research environment where high quality collaborative research is undertaken by the School's staff, postgraduate students and through the School's research centres.  The School facilitates research links between academia, business and the community with staff engaged in research over a wide range of disciplines including: Management; Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management; Retail Business, Public Service Management and Consumer Studies.
