Roam along the rocky Berwickshire coastline with its secluded coves and picturesque fishing villages in the Scottish Borders. Edinburgh City Region has a wealth of beautiful and inspirational scenery guaranteed to steal your heart.

Explore the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, the  birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. The preserved ruins of the Royal Palace lies within a picturesque setting above Linlithgow Loch. Or visit the 15th Century Rosslyn Chapel as featured in the 2006 blockbuster movie, The Da Vinci Code.

For adrenaline junkies, the city region offers a host of extreme and sporting activities located less than an hour from Edinburgh. Activities include diving, sailing and world-class mountain biking in the Scottish Borders. Ski on Europe’s largest dry ski slope in Midlothian, scale the dizzying heights of Edinburgh’s premier indoor climbing arena or surf and kite sail in East Lothian.

The city region is a golfers' paradise,offering a selection of world famous inland, parkland and links courses. The greatest of these courses is Muirfield, host to 15 Open Championships and often named by top professionals as the greatest course in the world. Further north, Fife also has a strong golf offering, as home to the world famous and truly spectacular St Andrew’s golf course.
