Portobello Beach
Known affectionately as ‘Porty’ by locals – Portobello has views
overlooking the Forth and long stretches of sandy beaches. Delight
in traditional seaside fun, indulge in ice creams and crepes on the
Prom, and revel in the childhood delights on offer in Porty’s old
fashioned sweetie shops.
Beach fun is plentiful with the summer’s highlights include
sailing regattas, beach
bootcamp for kids and adults, the Big Beach Busk and
a regular programme of public art organised by Big Things on the
Beach.
Portobello’s Heritage Trail is available from the library and
there are galleries, restaurants and quirky gift shops to explore
along the High Street.
The
#26 bus will take you straight there in 20 minutes
from the city centre.
