with festive celebrations featuring street
markets, special events and an ice rink located in the shadows
of Edinburgh Castle.
Edinburgh’s Christmas provides a magical
setting for visitors and residents of the city. Warm up with a mug
of gluhwein at the German market before watching the Christmas
Parade or glide across the UK’s largest outdoor ice rink at Winter
Wonderland.
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is the largest New Year
event in the world and its celebrations are world renown. The four
day festival features a comprehensive programme of festive
activities for all the family.
Join the warm embrace of the Torchlight
Procession as it flickers through the city radiating light and
magic. Europe’s leading street theatre companies appear at
the ‘Night Afore International’ on the day before Hogmanay (New
Year’s Eve).
Dance beneath the stars at Edinburgh’s world
famous Hogmanay Street Party. The night combines ceilidh dancing, a
live concert in the gardens and one of the world’s greatest
fireworks displays. The Concert in the Gardens has attracted
some of the world’s leading live acts including Blondie, Texas and
the Scissor Sisters.
