The Edinburgh International Film Festival
(EIFF) is a key part of British film culture and also exists to
celebrate the art of cinema internationally.
EIFF is bold in its search for the best that
the film industry has to offer. From celebrating the great films of
the past, presenting modern film premieres of the present, and
reflecting on the modern moving image technology of the future.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival
started in 1947 and is now one of the major international
festivals. 58,000 tickets were sold and 39 countries represented in
the 2006 Programme.
Sir Sean Connery is the Patron of the
Edinburgh International Film Festival.
