Festival of Politics
Engage with the political process at the
award-winning Festival of Politics. The four-day event, a
recent and inspired addition to the festival calendar, features
respected figures from the worlds of the media, politics and the
arts.
Participants from diverse fields discuss the
events which have defined their lives and careers. Political party
leaders, back bench dissenters and photojournalists who have
chronicled the world events, share their experiences.
Visitors are invited to take a glimpse behind
the scenes at the Open Parliament Day. There are also
exhibitions and plays with a political theme. This informal
atmosphere contrasts with the usually combative environment of the
debating chamber and produces some unexpected insights.
Guest speakers have included:
- Parliamentarians Sir Menzies Campbell, Tam Dalyell and Charles
Kennedy
- Chef and broadcaster Clarissa Dickson-Wright
- Satirist Armando Iannucci
- Journalist Kate Adie.
