Edinburgh International Science Festival
In a city with many festivals the Edinburgh International
Science Festival is unique. It is the world’s first and Europe’s
largest celebration of science and technology.
The two-week event attracts more than 70,000 visitors and has a
diverse programme of over 140 events. There are events for adults,
children as young as three, science professionals and virtually
anyone who has ever asked how, why or where.
There are activities to keep children absorbed over the Easter
holidays and show how science can be fun. Themes include dinosaur
excavation and medical exploration.
The National Museum of Scotland becomes a giant science lab for
two weeks with a variety of activities. The Royal Botanic Garden is
the focus for a series of events with a horticultural theme.
Attend a talk by one of the world’s foremost scientists on
life’s most important issues: climate change, the future of the
internet and the secret of happiness.
Generation Science, the Festival’s travelling schools programme,
reaches over 50,000 children and teachers. Pupils get the
opportunity to experience first-hand, the potential of science to
enthral, inspire and entertain.
