Edinburgh International Fashion Festival
A first for Scotland, Edinburgh hosted the inaugural Edinburgh
International Fashion Festival in 2006. Internationally acclaimed
designers Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Jonathan
Saunders adorned the runway with their creations. The biannual
event is an important market place for couture retailers.
The four-day festival featured a knowledgeable programme of
fashion events including headline catwalk shows and showcases for
contemporary design and emerging talent. Scottish designers were
given the opportunity to bring their talents to the attention of a
wider audience.
The festivals provided the opportunity to attend previews of
forthcoming collections and talks by leading designers and fashion
writers.
Photographic retrospectives and themed film screenings also
provided insights into the heritage and social impact of the
fashion industry.
Edinburgh International Fashion Festival future dates to be
confirmed. Check back for more details.
