Ceilidh Culture

Ceilidh Culture is an annual showcase for music, dance, storytelling and song.  The festival builds on the legacy of the Edinburgh Folk Festival and involves the participation of over 30 traditional arts organisations. Its emphasis is on including all the traditional arts activity taking place in the city.

The comprehensive events programme provides an opportunity to listen to traditional fiddle tunes, celebrate Scottish dialects and oral traditions through Scottish storytelling and preserve invaluable Celtic traditions.

Contemporary acts such as modern ceilidh dances complement and enhance the programme.

The festival has a strong community based element but there is also a burgeoning international dimension. Acclaimed musicians from Alaska, Austria, China and Scandinavia travel to the city to perform.
