Cost Of Living In Edinburgh
How much does it cost to study here? It
depends on your tuition fees, living costs and accommodation.
Managed properly, it’s very affordable; Scotland’s the cheapest
place to live in the UK. Surveys show that it costs around £5,000
per academic year (excluding tuition fees) to live in Edinburgh as
a university student, depending on how you live. Remember you could
benefit from grants, bursaries and loans. You can increase your
income by working part-time, too.
All students get free healthcare. Medicines,
dental treatment and eye tests are reduced for students.
Join the National Union of Students for free and you’ll
enjoy numerous discounts – up to 50% off books, stationery, food,
clothes, travel and entertainment. There are lots more discount
schemes available. Your university will tell you more when you
arrive. Finally, most of Scotland’s museums, galleries and
libraries are free.
