Edinburgh International Student Community

Since the mid-1990s the number of international students at the city region’s universities has increased from just over 7,500 to nearly 11,000 – a 42% increase in just nine years.
Research from 2006 reveals the high proportion of international students studying at many institutions, for example:

• Edinburgh College of Art – over 300
• The University of Edinburgh – 6,000
• Heriot Watt University – 2,615
• Edinburgh Napier University – over 1,700
• Queen Margaret University – over 700
• Scottish Agricultural College – approximately 100
• Telford College, Oatridge College and Stevenson College based in Edinburgh also have over 1,200 international students between them.
