Student Budgeting At University In Edinburgh

Coming from overseas, it’s especially important to budget for your time as a student, to make sure you can support yourself.  Your main costs will be:

  • Student accommodation – remember to include vacation time if you want to stay here over the holidays
  • Tuition fees – you can find out tuition fees for international students on your university’s website
  • Student living costs - include travel, study materials, food, socialising.

The budget calculator on the UCAS website can help you calculate how much it will cost you to study here. Remember to increase your costs for any spouse or family, if relevant.

You may be able to take advantage of grants and other financial support such as scholarships. Your university should be able to tell you about all the financial assistance for which you may be eligible.

Numerous students in Scotland also work part-time to supplement their income and as an international student you should be able to work part-time here, too.
