Undergraduate
applications
How to apply for a place in Higher
Education;
UCAS simplify the process by managing
applications online for almost all undergraduate degree programmes
at British universities and colleges. They forward your application
to the relevant institution(s), who then notify you of interviews
or offers. Different rules apply for art, medicine, physiotherapy,
dentistry and veterinary courses – check with UCAS.
If you apply by the relevant deadline, you
should hear from all choices by 28 March. If you don’t receive any
offers or decline all your offers, you can still apply for another
course through UCAS Extra in April or Clearing in the summer.
Types of offers:
Offers are either unconditional or conditional i.e. dependent on
future exam performance. You respond by accepting up to two
available with one Firm Acceptance (F) and one Insurance Acceptance
(I). The rest are Declined (D).
Cost of UCAS applications
: £5 to apply for one course or £15 to apply to two or more
courses. Normally paid by the student.
