Introduction
Edinburgh Napier University is Edinburgh’s Professional and
Innovative University. With nearly 18,000 students from 115
different countries, it is now one of Scotland’s biggest
universities. The university also attracts nearly 5,000
international students as well as having a student population of
which 28% is from overseas. The university has seen a 121.6% rise
in applications in the last two years.

Courses
The University offers 700 undergraduate, postgraduate and part-time
courses. Our courses are industry informed and combine the optimum
balance of theory and practice, so that our graduates can ‘hit the
ground running’ with their careers.

Confident Futures is an innovative programme of personal
development created by Edinburgh Napier unique to Higher Education.
The programme, which is available to all students, has been
designed to promote confidence, improve self awareness and enhance
the employability of students. Students learn about work life
skills such as assertiveness, creative problem-solving, effective
communication, influencing others, managing conflict and
networking
We offer many work-based placements and internships; group
projects where students act as consultants to real clients;
employee and alumni mentoring to build confidence and enhance the
soft skills of students as well as allowing them to make industry
contacts; field study-visits which allow students to see working
practices, design and operational aspects not possible in the
classroom; guest lecturers from experts in their field bringing
variety, personal experience and knowledge into the classroom;
dissertations - especially those that are related to business -
which foster opportunities for developing employability skills and
require business co-operation and volunteering opportunities.

Location
Multi-campus university, based on three main campuses in Edinburgh
at Merchiston, Craiglockhart, and Sighthill.
Craiglockhart Campus re-opened in 2004, combining stunning
modern architecture with the historic original 19th-century
buildings and offering a great range of facilities including
computer suites, language labs and social space.
The new Sighthill Campus opened to students in January 2011 and
houses cutting edge facilities that have brought together the
Faculty of Health, Life & Social Sciences together on one site.
The campus includes a five storey learning resource centre,
clinical skills laboratories, an environmental chamber, a crime
scene scenario room, three IT-enabled lecture theatres and seminar
rooms as well as integrated sports facilities.
The 500-seat Jack Kilby computing centre at our Merchiston
Campus is open 24/7 and students have access to online lecture
notes and study aids via WebCT. There are fully networked libraries
at each campus, and a multimedia language lab and adaptive
technology centre for students with special needs.
