Edinburgh Student Life

Students make up a massive one fifth of Edinburgh’s population.
No wonder that there’s so much here for young people to do, see,
experience and enjoy. Whatever your interests and tastes, you’ll
thrive on the vibrant atmosphere and culture.
It’s beautiful – the city’s Old and New Towns are a recognised
UNESCO world heritage site, and it’s busy too, not least because
it’s home to an extraordinary number of festivals. August explodes
with Edinburgh's festivals, including the
world-famous Edinburgh Fringe, Book and Film festivals. Day or
night, it’s officially buzzing, voted the best place in the UK for
a perfect night out (Amstel/ Virgin Radio poll).
The weather is fair and temperate, with the same annual rainfall
as Rome and New York. And it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside
- go mountain-biking at Glentress, surfing and diving on the
coastline, walking in the Pentland Hills and Trossachs, or even
just strolling up the city’s two extinct volcanoes; Edinburgh city
region has it all.
