Edinburgh Science & Technology Careers

This area is an important centre of medical and biological science, particularly Midlothian; the Edinburgh Science Triangle contains world-class organisations such as the Edinburgh Technopole, the Roslin Institute and the National Research Council.

Our reputation in this sector has developed from strong scientific origins: Charles Darwin studied in Edinburgh and the foundations of modern scientific medicine were established at the University of Edinburgh. The Roslin Institute, an offshoot of the university, made international headlines in 1977 when it created the world’s first genetically engineered mammal: Dolly the Sheep.

The electric technology market is broad ranging and encompasses informatics, microelectronics and optoelectronics. The industry has very strong links to The University of Edinburgh, which has the largest concentration of excellence in this area within the UK.

Edinburgh City Region is a world-influencer in science and is a fantastic location for starting your career in this sector.
