Affordable housing
The provision of affordable housing is a
primary objective for local authorities within the Edinburgh City
Region. In 2007 the Scottish Government allocated Communities
Scotland £48m to enable housing associations to purchase sites for
affordable housing.
There are certain areas of the city region in
which there is only a limited stock of affordable housing. However,
the shortage of affordable homes is less pronounced than in areas
of England and Wales.
If you are willing to commute, then there is a
wider choice of options, both in terms of price and type of
housing. The Lothians offer a comprehensive selection of
affordable properties in a variety of rural and urban
environments.
