Edinburgh’s Gay Community

Edinburgh city region’s cosmopolitan ambience sets the scene for a lively and thriving gay scene. Gay, bisexual and transgender communities celebrate their unity and diversity and highlight their right to equality. Edinburgh has six Equality Forums which are a vital part of the Council's work on equalities issues.

Gay Pride parades have been held in Edinburgh every two years since 1995, with numbers peaking at 20,000 in 1999. In recent years, Pride Scotia, have staged a massive celebration, which has included a parade and several indoor events.
