Film synopsis
The film depicts 1980's Edinburgh perfectly with a hectic dash
around the city where two latter-day Robin Hoods are
holding up coach loads of tourists.
Will (Vincent Friell) and Ronnie (Joe Mullaney) are broke.
Their solution to the problem is unique. Donning novelty masks from
Ronnie's joke shop they take to the isolated roads around Glencoe
on a motorbike and set themselves up as modern day highwaymen,
holding up coach loads of tourists armed with nothing more than a
plastic gun and a puffer that Ronnie says he's loaded with "itching
powder, sneezing powder, athlete's foot powder and some stuff I got
out of an old firework."
The two friends carry out a series of daring raids in the
beautiful Scottish countryside, followed by gleeful redistributions
of the takings - chucked out from the back of the bike - around the
streets of Edinburgh. The photography of both locations
is one of the film's many mild pleasures. The
guitar-as-bagpipes soundtrack by local band Big Country's Stuart
Adamson has to be heard to be believed and is surprisingly
enjoyable.
