Cycle
Edinburgh ranks second in Scotland after Fife
for its quality of provision for cyclists, according to Cycling
Scotland. There are 80km of off-road and 70km of on-road cycle
lanes throughout the city, while many regional train services
operate storage space for bikes, widening the travel-to-work area
for cyclists. Around 5% of Edinburgh residents cycle to work,
although this number is growing steadily. Roughly 13% regularly
cycle for journeys around Edinburgh. Since 2003, 8km of new or
upgraded cycling track has been created in Edinburgh.
