Based just seven miles from Edinburgh city centre, Edinburgh International Airport is currently the 60th busiest airport in Europe, serving more than 100 destinations with 40 airlines. There are also direct long haul routes to New York and a range of European destinations. The airport provides access to around 60 flights a day to London, with a one hour flight time, and connections to more than 20 UK and Ireland hubs including Birmingham, Manchester and Belfast.

In the decade to 2006, the airport’s passenger numbers climbed by 154% to over 8.5m and are forecast to reach 26m by 2030. In 2007 figures climbed further - just over 9m passengers used the airport.

Edinburgh International Airport is one of five main airports in Scotland, and the nation's busiest with nearly 25,000 passengers a day. The others are Glasgow, Prestwick and Aberdeen serving international destinations, while Inverness serves UK locations.
