Science & technology conferences
Edinburgh's prestigious international reputation and
long history in science, medicine and technology attracts major
industry conferences from around the world.
Between April
2005 and October 2006, the Edinburgh
Convention Bureau helped to support over 9,730 delegates
at 28 national and international science and technology
associations and corporate events.
These
included the fifth International Workshop on Methane Hydrate
Research, the 19th International Joint Conference on Artificial
Intelligence, the fourth Annual Biological Forum and the European
Farm Animal Functional Genomics Conference.
In April 2008, more than 600 scientists joined forces to help
streamline research into animal diseases. The Easter Bush Research Consortium (EBRC)
involves researchers from The Roslin Institute, the University of
Edinburgh, the Scottish Agricultural College and the Moredun
Research Institute. A two-day conference beginning in Edinburgh
marked the EBRC's launch.
The Inspiring Capital is the UK’s most
favoured city after London to hold an international conference and
offers a wide range of conference locations including the flagship
Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
