To help develop and promote its leading
international research in the field of informatics, The University
of Edinburgh has forged a strategic partnership with Stanford
University in the USA.
This link strengthens and enhances both
partners’ considerable research power and expertise in areas
including language technology, entrepreneurship training and
commercialisation.
It also builds on established international
links in the science and technology community. Edinburgh City
Region is home to indigenous companies that have established an
international presence - including Ardana, Cardio Digital, IndigoVision, Wolfson
Microelectronics, Ice Robotics, MicroEmissive Displays and Ocean
Power Delivery - and to international companies that have been
attracted to the area's strong science and technology cluster, such
as Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Cognia EU, Xilinx and
STMicroelectronics.
