Retail workforce
Edinburgh’s workers are the most productive in
Scotland, generating £27,600 a year each – the second highest
figure in the UK.
In the retail sector, labour productivity in
the Lothians is £21,000 compared to £19,000 for Scotland as a
whole.
The retail industry employs 56,000 people
across Edinburgh City Region and generates around £760m for the
local economy.
According to the Hudson Scotland Salary Survey
2006, permanent salaries for retail managers range from £12,000 to
£40,000.
