Regeneration
Despite Edinburgh's economic and cultural
success, there are areas in the city of persistent multiple
deprivation.
The City of Edinburgh Council is investing in
flagship regeneration initiatives to deliver vibrant and
sustainable communities to these areas, particularly Granton and
Craigmillar.
Public sector jobs can be an important
catalyst in this process, as demonstrated by the Scottish
Government's relocation to Victoria Quay, Leith in the early
1990s.
Through strategic, planned growth and
deploying underused resources, each of the following regeneration
projects will strengthen Edinburgh's reputation for providing a
modern and attractive business environment, with spin-off benefits
for the wider city region and Scottish economy.
