West Edinburgh
West Edinburgh acts as a Gateway to the city, both locally and
globally.
Major developments including the expansion of Edinburgh Park and the opening of the
campus-style global headquarters of Royal Bank of
Scotland at Gogarburn have led to the
area becoming a business hub.
West Edinburgh is within commuting distance of both Edinburgh
and Glasgow city regions, while its location in relation to
Edinburgh Airport provides an unrivalled level of international connectivity.
Twenty hectares of land have been set aside for the second phase
of Edinburgh Park. Land has also been allocated nearby for 1,000
new homes, with new hotel developments expected to serve the
rapidly growing Edinburgh International
Airport.
Strategic allocation of land from the Green Belt will be
released to allow for the construction of further campus-style
international business gateway locations. This land will be used to
encourage the development of Edinburgh's burgeoning international
business community.
