Science Parks in Edinburgh City Region
For over 35 years science parks have been home
to high growth technology or knowledge based companies. They
provide a vital link between commercial, business and academic
research, flexible property accommodation, shared services and
assisted access to support and networks.
There are established standards for science
parks and various league tables rank the parks. The Edinburgh
Science Triangle’s unique collaboration of seven science and
technology parks is recognised as Scotland’s most enterprising
area, with the aim of promoting Edinburgh city region’s science
capability and quality infrastructure to attract research and
technology companies to the area.
Infrastructure
There is considerable competition for Science
Park occupiers in almost all areas of science and technology.
The main aims are to provide an infrastructure for research,
development and manufacturing along with high quality
accommodation, services and support.
Currently 3,300 highly skilled world-class
researchers and over 100 indigenous and international companies are
based on this powerful “super-campus”. More than 300,000
square meters of class-leading accommodation for offices and
laboratories will eventually house 15,000 highly-skilled
researchers within around 200 hectares of landscaped parkland.
