Edinburgh International Science Festival
Edinburgh International Science Festival was founded in
1989. It is an educational charity that encourages people of
all ages and backgrounds to discover the wonder of the world around
them.
The Science Festival celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2009 and
the annual festival, which was a world first to celebrate science
and technology, remains one of Europe’s largest. The two-week event
thrills, entertains, mystifies and enlightens audiences through
amazing experiences that are inspiring and
confidence-building.
The 2009 Festival was the most successful festival to date with
a total of 68,000 visitors.
Festival 2010
The next Edinburgh International Science Festival will take
place April 3 - 17, 2010.

Spirit of the wild: spectacular
exhibition of wildlife images from the award-winning Steve Bloom in
St Andrew Square garden
Video game studio: intensive
workshops at Stevenson College in computer games design
Sonic dreams: experience
"wraparound" soundscapes in a 3D sound lab in St Andrew Square

Huxley's lab: Edinburgh's Grid
Iron and Lung Ha's theatre companies present a commissioned
performance exploring genetic perfection at the Festival
Theatre.

Art Centre.
Journey of lego: University
of Edinburgh plays host to a Lego expert who will explain how the
coloured bricks have shaped the minds of youngsters to develop an
interest in technology, building, engineering and mechanics

Generation Science
Throughout the year, the Edinburgh International Science
Festival brings science to life with Generation Science, the UK’s
largest touring science education programme.
The programme uses a unique combination of professional
communicators, tailor-made props and an expertise in science
education to bring unforgettable shows into schools. Shows and
workshops are regularly reviewed to fit with the Curriculum for
Excellence.
