Edinburgh leads Europe into the future
The results of the 2010/11 “European Cities & Regions of the
Future”, published by The Financial Times fDi Magazine, crowned
Edinburgh as Europe’s Best Small City of the Future for a second
successive year. The city was placed 10th in all Europe and
4th overall in Northern Europe.
Edinburgh was judged on seven criteria, including economic
potential, quality of life and business friendliness. The city also
came out on top in the Best Economic Potential category, in which
criteria including GDP growth, employment growth and economic
sentiment were assessed.
fDi Magazine’s European Cities and Regions of
the Future 2010/11 shortlists take more than six months to research
and involve the collection of data for 223 cities and 142 regions
in Europe.

of the Department of Trade and Industry's Enterprising Britain 2007
competition.
