    National Museum of Scotland: Following an exceedingly popular first event, the National Museum once again opens its doors after dark to give adults a chance to play, with food and drink, live music from Sparrow and the Workshop and Bwani Junction, live comedy from Bright Club, a Silent Disco and even facepainting adding to the fun.

    The Edinburgh Playhouse: An X-rated Sesame Street, this show follows the inhabitants of a run-down area of New York as they struggle with life, love and what to do with your BA in English. Some scenes may be unsuitable for children under 12.

  • Scottish Opera: Hansel and Gretel

    Edinburgh Festival Theatre: Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel is an unlikely but highly effective synthesis of Wagnerian techniques with folk-inspired tunes; a darkly funny folktale that has never been out of the repertoire since Richard Strauss conducted the premiere back in 1893. This production features Estonian mezzo Kai Rüütel as Hansel, Irish soprano Ailish Tynan as Gretel and Leah-Marian Jones as the Witch.

    Edinburgh Festival Theatre: A small-town grocer is led astray and into the arms of his neighbour. As his escapades cause trouble within the community, his wife's reaction surprises everyone. Featuring Craig Gazey, Suzanne Shaw and Vicky Entwistle.
