Meanwhile here are a couple of pictures from
the recent swimming come and try event in Festival Square.
There are a whole host of Olympic 2012 events being shown on
Scotland's only Live Site, the BBC Big
Screen in Edinburgh's Festival Square, over the next few weeks.
Accompanying this are many sports taster sessions on the
astro-turf. Cadbury will also be on hand in its role as official
treat provider to the Games, with more activities and treats for
those who take part.
The coverage was highlighted by a fly past of the
Red Arrows, over
Edinburgh, to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games
on Friday July 27th.
At 12.30pm, the flypast saw nine aircraft flying in the famous ‘Big
Battle’ formation over Holyrood Park, up the Royal Mile, over
Edinburgh Castle
and, finally, over Festival Square. Members of the public
(and media) assembled in Festival Square where they were able to
enjoy a series of Olympic sports demonstrations and ‘come-and-try’
events, including judo, weightlifting and table tennis.
Throughout the Games, The Big Screen will be
showing extensive coverage while the freshly laid
astro-surface will play host to many sports and games. Leading
sponsor Cadbury will also
be providing plenty of free chocolate to help with your athletic
preparation and recovery!
