Rugby? Non! Alternatives to Scotland V France, Saturday February 06 2010
It’s rugby-time this weekend in Edinburgh as the French come to
Murrayfield to take us on in the Six Nations. There’s always a
great atmosphere in the city when the international matches are on,
but it definitely helps when we win, so hopefully we’ll see a moves
like this,
rather than this from the
Scots.
But not everybody likes a bit of the old egg-chasing. So, for
those of you who get stand-offish when people talk about stand-off
halves, we’ve come up with three alternative ways to occupy your
time in Edinburgh tomorrow.
1) If you like improvisational comedy (and we don’t mean the
Scottish defending) then head along to The Stand for some of the very
best on offer at Who’s Lunch Is It Anyway?. It’s fun, free, and
there’s hot food. What more could you possibly want?
2) More a line-learner than a line-outer? Then celebrate 40
years of Scottish Theatre at the National Library. Enjoy unparalleled
access to archives, props and costumes, including pieces from
acclaimed playwright John Byrne. Tracing Scotish culture from the
beginnings of the 7:84 theatre company in the 1970s through to
National Theatre of Scotland’s appearance in 2006.
3) Meet your maker. No, it’s not what happens if you accidently
get in the way of the French Front Row, but rather the chance to
meet some of Scotland's greatest contemporary craftspeople at the
National Museum of Scotland. With
demonstrations in everything from jewellery making to glass
blowing, you can even buy some of the pieces you see being made in
front of your eyes.
