If you didn't know already, Edinburgh has its very own Marathon
Man. Nope, we don't mean
Dustin Hoffman. Instead, we're on about 27 year-old Mark Cooper, who's planning on
running an astonishing 50 marathons in just 56 days, starting in
Amsterdam and finishing in Barcelona.
That's over 1300 miles in eight weeks - we don't even think our
car could do that. For Sport Relief last year, Eddie Izzard ran
around the UK, completing
43 Marathons in 51 days (which you can see on
BBC iPlayer at the moment, showing just how hard it is) but
Mark will be running over 200 miles more.
He won't be running barefoot like Dustin, but we're guessing he
won't be paid any 'visits' by a dentist either. Mark's got some
high-profile supporters too, including Sir Ranulph Fiennes, himself
no stranger to endurance events after running seven marathons on
seven continents in seven days.
Mark is planning to raise £25,000 for head-injury charity
Headway, and
although he might not be starting his adventure until May 1st, but
he is still trying to raise funds in the meantime, and you can
