  • Scottish Opera: Hansel and Gretel

Edinburgh Festival Theatre: Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel is an unlikely but highly effective synthesis of Wagnerian techniques with folk-inspired tunes; a darkly funny folktale that has never been out of the repertoire since Richard Strauss conducted the premiere back in 1893. This production features Estonian mezzo Kai Rüütel as Hansel, Irish soprano Ailish Tynan as Gretel and Leah-Marian Jones as the Witch.

  • Wee Dub Festival

Various venues: A celebration of all things dub, expanding for the first time from one day to a whole weekend with sets from Celt Islam, Morphy (live), Jammin' J, the Borocco Tribal Belly Dancers, Zion Train Soundsystem, Radikal Guru featuring Cian Finn, Riddim Tuffa Sound, DJ Robigan, The Mad Professor Dub Show (live), Mungo's Hi-Fi, Chungo Bungo and Big Toes.

  • Swallows and Amazons

Edinburgh Festival Theatre: Arthur Ransome's classic tale of children on boats is brought to life as an action-packed musical adventure directed by Tom Morris and featuring music from The Divine Comedy.

  • The Go-Go
